We recently designed a system similar to Glad Tidings Church in Mt. Morris' new 1000-seat sanctuary in Pennsylvania. Roland had just introduced their new modular digital console (see our News page), so we installed the 42-channel version for the convenience of storing and recalling complete mixer setups for services, concerts, and dramatic presentations. The twelve (!) auxes gave us plenty of feeds for five monitor mixes, effects, stereo recording, delayed underbalcony, and foyer/nursery speakers.
With modular design, the mixing console is an elaborate mouse. The actual mixer box (at the bottom of this rack), with all input and output connections, is located at the stage area along with all the graphic EQs and amplifiers. Consequently, instead of an expensive and bulky 48-pair snake, we only needed a 9-pair snake to the sound booth for console digital input/output plus recording, VCR, underbalcony, foyer/nursery, and remote power-up feeds. Yamaha high-efficiency amps provide over 5,000 watts of clean power while drawing less than 30 amps of electrical current!
