Glad Tidings Assembly

We had upgraded the sound system for Glad Tidings Church of Norfolk a few years ago knowing they were soon to build a new sanctuary. The amplifiers, speakers, monitors, and a 40-channel mixing console we installed were chosen to carry over to a new facility. Completed in June 2000, the larger sanctuary has a left-center-right speaker configuration utilizing WoodWorx waveguide speakers and Yamaha subwoofers for mains, additional Yamaha amps and EQs, and Audix vocal mics. Eight Azden wireless systems include both lavalier transmitters for pastors and drama, and matching handheld modules for alternate use with the Audix mics. (Modules plug into the base of any mic turning it into a wireless.) SceCon of Portsmouth provided the interior design.

Working closely with us, SceCon designed the baffle for the main speaker cluster which blended with their overall design. With the cluster dedicated exclusively to vocals, left-right music speakers were enclosed in the side walls, subwoofers were hidden up in the large baptismal area, and cosmetic columns and framing housed the rear-projection screens and choir monitors.

We exclusively use Mystery floor boxes in our installs due to their durability, flexibility, and cosmetic appeal. Eight boxes provided thirty mic connections, a headphone monitor feed, and five monitor mixes duplicated at every location. We also installed a 9-channel remote snake with duplicated headphone and monitor outs for flexible placement of extra connections anywhere on stage, especially for concerts and special programs.
