CHURCH OF THE ASCENSION CATHOLIC

This was a fun challenge in that the worship director wanted duplicate control of the main mixer from the stage for the music. The only feasible (and economical) way to accomplish this was with two Yamaha 01V 14-channel mixers which allowed us to have a sound room mixer preset for services, a stage mixer programmed to remote-control only the music channels on the sound room mixer, and a single audio feed from stage to sound room so that the 14 channels on the stage mixer could be used independently for a contemporary youth group. The remote-control is achieved with a single MIDI connection using one mic line through the snake. (MIDI only uses three conductors, and I've never experienced a problem with control data through up to 200 feet of standard mic line.)

The main speakers were hidden in a low and narrow facing over the stage, so we used small Bag End TA6000 speakers mounted horizontally in a spaced array to achieve excellent coverage in the wide 400-seat room. A single Bag End 400-watt, 18" powered Infrasub positioned in a rearstage alcove provides rich low end for the system.
